Golden Finance reported that when Fed officials cut interest rates at a meeting this month, they avoided explicitly hinting at what might happen next, according to the New York Times. Minutes released Tuesday provided little signal about whether Fed officials are likely to cut rates at their December meeting or how much they might cut in 2025. In recent months, economic data has been stronger than economists expected. The job market, which has been showing signs of cooling, has stabilized. Given this, some economists have been wondering whether the Fed could pause on cutting interest rates at its upcoming meeting. But the minutes from the November meeting offered little clear guidance, other than to say that "gradually" lower interest rates "may be appropriate" over time.
