According to Golden Finance, Russian Bitcoin miners are concerned about the government's regulations requiring wallet addresses to be included in the national register, according to Cryptoslate. Russian MP Anton Gorelkin highlighted these concerns in a February 7 Telegram post and warned that geopolitical rivals could exploit the leaked address. He described a scenario where this is a major threat because sanctions could seriously affect mining operations. According to him, “Russian miners are concerned about the security issues of some highly sensitive data collected by the state under the new regulations (e.g., encrypted wallet numbers) … It is obvious that the leakage of wallet information may bring a slight impact to our geopolitical rivals. A big gift.”
