Golden Finance reported that U.S. House of Representatives Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said that members of his party received "violent threats" during Thanksgiving, including bomb warnings and lying to law enforcement agencies in an attempt to lure SWAT teams to come to the house to harm homeowners. This follows similar incidents involving President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees. Incidents targeting Democratic lawmakers include "detailed threats about placing pipe bombs in mailboxes and attempts to lure SWAT teams, all of which were signed 'MAGA' at the end," Jeffries said in a statement Friday. What he meant by "MAGA" was Trump's political slogan of "Make America Great Again." Jeffries said that thanks to the swift response of law enforcement, no devices were discovered and members of Congress and their families were safe during the holiday season. Several Democratic lawmakers from Connecticut said they were targeted in the Thanksgiving incident, including Reps. Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro and Jahana Hayes. They posted the threats they received on X social media platform.
