According to Bitcoin Magazine, the Kentucky Senate passed a bill to protect Bitcoin’s self-custodial rights and digital asset mining with a 37-0 vote. The bill, titled "AN ACT relating to blockchain digital assets" (HB 701), has now been sent to the Governor's Office to await final approval.
The bill, introduced by representatives of Adam Bowling and T.J. Roberts, confirms the right of individuals to self-custodialize digital assets through self-custodial wallets. In addition, the bill prevents discrimination against digital asset mining companies by local zoning laws, ensuring that Bitcoin miners can operate freely within the state.
