Vancouver passes bill to integrate Bitcoin into municipal finance strategy

Golden Finance reported that Vancouver passed a motion to become a “Bitcoin Friendly City.” Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said at the December 11 city council meeting, “We have affordability challenges, and I firmly believe that Bitcoin can solve our challenges, both financial and affordability challenges.”
Previously, Vancouver Mayor Ken Simm urged city council to explore integrating Bitcoin into municipal financial strategies, emphasizing the potential of cryptocurrencies to enhance financial stability in volatile fiat markets. At the city council meeting on December 11, Sim proposed a motion titled “Preserving the City’s Purchasing Power by Diversifying Financial Reserves – Becoming a Bitcoin-Friendly City.”
