According to the Washington Post, people familiar with the matter revealed that British security officials have asked Apple to set up a "backdoor" to allow the government to obtain all content uploaded by users to iCloud. The UK Home Office has issued a "Technical Capability Notice" to Apple, requiring it to provide relevant access rights. According to reports, Apple may choose to stop providing encrypted storage services in the UK rather than violate the security commitments of its global users. At present, neither Apple nor the UK Home Office commented on this. In January this year, British regulators launched an investigation into Apple and Google's operating systems, app stores and browsers.
