Golden Finance reports that Swiss crypto asset management company 21Shares has hired abrdn’s Russell Barlow as CEO and colleague Duncan Moir as president. abrdn is one of the UK's largest asset managers, with AUM of nearly $650 billion. Barlow previously served as global head of alternative and multi-asset investments at abrdn, where he was responsible for more than $200 billion in assets under management. Moir leads the asset manager’s crypto and blockchain strategy. Additionally, Edel Bashir will serve as chief operating officer of 21Shares, having previously served as chief operating officer of abrdn Alternatives and Multi-Asset Investments. 21.co also announced a reorganization that will see it spin off its technology arm into a separate company, 21.co Technologies, but will remain part of 21.co Holdings. 21.co founders Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder will co-chair 21Shares and be responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations. 21Shares also promoted Andres Valencia internally to executive vice president of investment management. It is reported that 21Shares’ assets under management have grown by two-thirds since the middle of this year and now exceed $10 billion.
