Golden Finance reported that venture capitalist Felix Hartmann warned that as institutional investors increase profit-taking activities, the altcoin market may be volatile in the short term. “Once momentum sets in, we have to lower leverage and see some big pullbacks,” it explained. It noted that funding rates for most altcoins are now “above” 100% annualized, with recent moves purely driven by Perpetual contracts traders are driven by lower spot trading volumes, and "the decline is going to be brutal," Hartmann said.
However, not all traders agree with this view and believe that this is just the beginning of altcoin season. Anonymous cryptocurrency trader MilkyBull Crypto said recently: “It seems logical to go from this month to March next year. The altcoin season has just started and will last about 90 days.”
Traders often point to Bitcoin market share as a key indicator of the start of altcoin season. According to TradingView data, as of press time, Bitcoin’s market share was 55.11%, having dropped 7.88% in the past 30 days.
