On January 24th, Paris Prosecutor held a press conference on Thursday evening stating that Ledger co -founder David Balland and his wife were abducted at home in central France in the early morning of Tuesday and were taken to two different places to imprison. In the incident, his hand was severely damaged. During the abduction, the kidnappers contacted another LEDger co -founder to request a cryptocurrency to pay the ransom, which has been partially paid.
The rescue operation dispatched more than 90 police officers from GIGN, one of the French elite tactical police forces, and finally rescued David Balland and arrested the kidnappers. The next day, his wife was found to be tied to the car but was not injured. Ten suspects are being interrogated by the police. Prosecutors said that almost all cryptocurrencies paid to the kidnappers were tracked, frozen and seized.
Pascal Gauthier, chairman and CEO of LEDGER, said in a statement: "David and his wife have been released, and now they are safe. We have been relieved. David has left Ledger since 2021. There is no position in the company. "
