U.S. stocks closed mixed, with Nasdaq and S&P 500 continuing to hit new closing highs

Golden Finance reported that U.S. stocks closed mixed, with the Dow falling 0.17%, the Nasdaq rising 0.40%, and the S&P 500 rising 0.05%. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 continued to hit new closing highs. Gold stocks generally rose, with Cordairn Mining rising by more than 8%, Hecla Mining rising by more than 6%, Pan American Silver rising by nearly 6%, Anglogold rising by more than 4%, and Harmony Gold and Gold Fields rising by nearly 3%. JPMorgan Chase expects gold prices to rise to $3,000 an ounce next year. Intel fell more than 6%. CEO Pat Gelsinger retired on December 1 and was reportedly ousted by the board of directors due to poor performance.
