Golden Finance reported that on January 18, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated in a press release that The Vanguard Group, Inc. will pay US$106.41 million to settle matters regarding its capital gains distribution. and allegations of misleading statements about the tax implications that affected retail investors who held Vanguard Investor Target Retirement Funds (Investor TRFs) in taxable accounts. The settlement amount will be distributed to affected investors.
Earlier news, Vanguard Group CEO Tim Buckley said that the company would not pursue a Bitcoin ETF like competitors such as BlackRock and Fidelity. A spokesman said the reasons for not launching a Bitcoin ETF are the same as why a gold ETF was never launched. Bitcoin lacks "intrinsic value," has no cash flow and is too volatile.
