Recently, artificial intelligence agents have been a hot topic in the crypto space, attracting widespread attention from early adopters to major investors. The excitement generated by these technologies is comparable to the DeFi summer of 2020-2021. (Thanks to @MessariCrypto for the data below)

It’s not just hype – there are new experiments, novel research and innovative applications of AI agents emerging every day, from automated trading bots to real-time market analysis tool. This surge in interest is very similar to the early days of DeFi, when no one wanted to miss out on what could become the next big thing in crypto.

From Terminal of Truth (@truth_terminal) to Zerebro (@0xzerebro) and Virtuals (@virtuals_io), to ai16z (@ai16zdao), aixbt (@aixbt_agent) and so on (too many to list), we’re seeing exciting idea after exciting idea emerge, all of which leverage AI Powerful potential for agency.

Now, there is a new word that is trending: “DeFAI”. If you are reading this article, you probably already know which two words it is made from. Yes, that’s right – it’s a fusion of DeFi and AI. Just hearing those words - it feels awesome, right? !

In this article, I would like to talk about the concept currently known as "DeFAI" and share some of my thoughts on how it may develop in the future.

If we look at the DeFAI projects currently under development, I would divide them into the following categories:

Tools (or interfaces) that make DeFi more user-friendly

AI agents that focus on analytics, such as market analysis and forecasting

AI agents that automate DeFi activities (such as trading automation)

Okay, let’s list each category Some major projects in:

1. Enabling DeFi A more user-friendly tool (interface)

- ANON (@HeyAnonai)

HeyAnon is a DeFAI developed by @danielesesta (yes, WAGMI) Protocol designed to simplify DeFi interactions and integrate key information related to projects. Through conversational AI combined with real-time data, HeyAnon allows users to manage DeFi operations, track project updates, and understand trends on different platforms. It uses natural language processingprocessing technology to parse user instructions, perform complex DeFi tasks, and provide near real-time insights.

The Hey Anon team is also developing a new product: a TypeScript-based framework called Automate. Once development is complete, you can expect any protocol to be seamlessly integrated into a secure, predictable, AI-driven multi-chain DeFi environment.

Griffain allows users to create and manage AI agents that can perform various on-chain operations such as token exchanges , liquidity provision, etc. It functions somewhat similarly to HeyAnon, but is primarily based on and runs within the Solana ecosystem.

2. AI agents focused on analysis, such as market analysis and forecasting

3. AI agent to automate DeFi activities (such as transaction automation)

Kosher Capital is a platform where users can launch a completely Funds managed by AI agents. The “Digital Gold Fund” is a prime example, managed by @RabbiSchlomo_Ai with $cbBTC and runs completely automatically without human intervention. AI agents like @RabbiSchlomo_Ai make all investment decisions independently, rebalancing only when the fund committee deems it absolutely necessary.

3. My thoughts and 2025 DeFAI Summer Bull Forecast

We are in an exciting time for DeFAI. The combination of DeFi and AI is more than just hype—it will rapidly change the way we handle finances. DeFi has grown steadily over the past few years and remains one of the industries with huge growth potential (I’m waiting for @AndreCronjeTech to return). If technologies like Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) or even AGI end up being part of this transformation, I see an even bigger explosion. It feels like the proverbial “DeFi summer” of growth back then, even if it’s not marked on the calendar.

AI agents are honing their skills in handling complex financial tasks. They stand on the shoulders of years of DeFi innovation and may be secured through TEE technology in the future, creating a whole new layer of trust and reliability. As these systems continue to improve, more people—from experienced traders to new users attracted through streamlined interfaces—will come on board. Better natural language processing, real-time analytics, and automated trading bots will break down barriers to entry and make DeFi more accessible and efficient.

Interoperability is another game-changer. The DeFAI project will not operate in isolation. They will seamlessly integrate, share insights and collaborate. Imagine an AI agent leveraging real-time market data and analytics from aixbt – feeding these insights directly into automated trading strategies. When user-friendly tools, analytics-driven AI agents, and automated bots come together, the synergy can be magical—attracting greater investment and igniting community momentum.

Also, we cannot ignore the potential of AGI. While it’s still a long way off, its eventual arrival could take decision-making, predictive analytics, and automated strategies to a whole new level.

The core of all this,is a community of forward thinkers and doers. People like @danielesesta are not only pushing the boundaries of technology while remaining open and transparent. This combination of tenacity and vision sets the stage for smart, AI-driven solutions to truly flourish.

In short, my 2025 DeFAI bull thesis is built on a confluence of technological readiness, continued DeFi development, future security innovations like TEE, and the tantalizing promise of AGI. Artificial intelligence is being woven into the fabric of DeFi, and we stand on the brink of entering a transformative era in the crypto world.

Buckle up – this DeFAI summer may be the most exciting “summer” yet.
