Golden Finance reported that Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary nominated by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, said at a nomination hearing held by the Senate Finance Committee that he sees “no reason” for the United States to have a central bank digital currency (CBDC). He said: "I see no reason for the United States to issue a central bank digital currency. In my opinion, central bank digital currencies are for countries that have no other investment options."
Bessent, who was appointed by Trump as a cryptocurrency expert in late November, has taken a positive stance on cryptocurrencies, telling Fox Business in an interview that he was "excited that the president would embrace cryptocurrencies."
