On January 16, blockchain data analysis company Chainalysis released the “2025 Cryptocurrency Crime Report.” The report shows that the total amount of funds flowing into illegal addresses in 2024 will reach $40.9 billion, and it is expected that this number may increase to $51 billion depending on other crimes that may be discovered in the future. It is worth noting that illegal activities only account for 0.14% of all on-chain transactions. The report also noted that stablecoins currently account for 63% of all illegal transaction volume, which is related to a 77% year-on-year increase in stablecoin activity in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
