Golden Finance reported that on January 14, local time, U.S. President-elect Trump asked the Federal Court of Appeal to reconsider his case of defaming writer Carroll, trying to overturn the jury’s previous verdict. Previously, a jury found that Trump defamed the writer Carroll after sexually assaulting her in the mid-1990s, and ordered Trump to pay Carroll $5 million in damages. Trump's lawyers have filed a request with the Second Circuit Court of Appeals for the full bench to hear the case, saying the court made errors in accepting relevant evidence during the trial that could adversely affect future cases. If the request is not approved, Trump may further seek a Supreme Court hearing.
