According to news on January 14, due to the reduction in the supply of "humanitarian power" provided by Moscow to Abkhazia, it is expected that the emergency power provided by Russia will be exhausted by February 18. Abkhazia’s only major hydropower station is shut down due to low reservoir levels, and the government is powerless to prevent crypto miners from continuing to operate large-scale mining operations through legal loopholes. Residents believe law enforcement agencies knew the mine's location and owner but failed to take effective measures. This has led to outrage among the Russian public and media over Abkhazia's energy consumption, as Russian taxpayers foot the bill and domestic electricity prices rise.
