According to news on January 14, the number of blobs on Celestia has continued to increase significantly in the past two weeks. Celestia's blob size is interchangeably referred to as the number of blobs published on Celestia. Between June 20 and December 20, 2024, the average blob size on Celestia was approximately 1.18GB. However, over the past two weeks, that number has increased almost tenfold, reaching an average of 11.4GB. The nearly 10x increase in blob size is likely due to the NFT minting that occurred during this period, as well as more projects choosing to use Celestia as their data availability layer. Likewise, daily trading volume on Celestia also increased significantly during this period. During the same time frame (June 20 to December 20), Celestia averaged approximately 44,000 transactions per day. In the past two weeks, this number has grown by more than 60%, with average daily trading volume reaching 71,000.
