Golden Finance reported that according to Politico, U.S. Republicans are already worried that it will be difficult to pass new policies on borders, energy, and taxes through the budget reconciliation process. U.S. House Speaker Johnson promised in December to incoming President Trump that he would also use the reconciliation bill to raise the debt ceiling, adding another layer of complexity. Conservatives generally oppose raising the debt ceiling and demand deep spending cuts in exchange for their support. Asked about the potential risk to the country's credit rating if the package is delayed, Johnson said in a brief interview on Tuesday that he was still pushing for the measure and reiterated his optimistic timetable for the package. "We're going to have a good handle on the debt ceiling before the June deadline. So we're not worried," Johnson said, referring to an initial estimate of when the U.S. could be at risk of defaulting unless Congress takes action.
