Report: Telegram’s cryptocurrency holdings rise to $1.3 billion in first half of 2024

Golden Finance reported that the value of digital assets held by the communications platform Telegram has risen from US$400 million at the end of 2023 to US$1.3 billion in the first half of 2024. Telegram previously disclosed that it holds approximately US$400 million in digital assets. However, new information suggests that the company’s cryptocurrency holdings have exceeded $1 billion.
According to the report, the messaging platform generated $525 million in revenue from January to June. Compared with the same period in 2023, this is an increase of 190%. The report highlights that the company earned $353 million from selling cryptocurrencies in the first half of 2024. Reports show that approximately $225 million came from transactions with an undisclosed entity. Telegram was reportedly compensated for allowing TON tokens to become an exclusive way for businesses to buy ads on the messaging app.
