This weekend, when I was browsing Twitter, I saw David Hoffman highlighting what he thinks is the best model currently on Base. Because of tokens.
Heroes see the same thing, right, because those are the 5 very similar tokens I see on Base right now. Why?
Full disclosure, I currently hold a few of these, specifically HIGHER, ANON and ghffb47yii2rteeyy10op. But my personal opinion aside, these tokens share some key timely themes:
They are popular among Farcaster power users.
They are also all at least indirectly related to artificial intelligence and meme coins.
They are the riskier opponents in Base as people increasingly look to L2 for new risky bets.
Nonetheless, please maintain your sanity. Trading volatility surrounding these smaller coins often rises or falls sharply over short periods of time. In this field, losing money is inevitable.
However, these coins are currently notable for specific reasons. I think they do have potential upside. At the very least, understanding them can help us better understand what’s currently exciting cryptocurrency traders.
Next, let’s take a look at why I think these 5 tokens stand out on Base.
1. HIGHERThe term "memecoin" indicates that the coin is primarily driven by its memetic DNA. This is why I wouldn’t consider HIGHER strictly a meme coin, but a scene coin: its main driver is to be the native token for the Higher community scene on Base and Farcaster.
That said, the coin’s fluid code and “let’s go higher” optimistic theme do give it an attractive base level of memory that’s shiny and timeless. But when you zoom in, you'll see there's more depth here than 99.9% of meme coin games. That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised to see it listed on a major centralized exchange (ahem, Coinbase) in the near future.
To put it simply, Higher is a rising headless brand. I think it's on the same level as Nouns DAO, just more amorphous and centered around fungible tokens HIGHER rather than NFTs. The general gist is the same: try cool experiments with a group of like-minded creatives. Go higher together.
There are signs that this is just the fascinating artifact that the Advanced Collective will produce in the coming years. The beginning of intelligent curiosity. I'm personally bullish accordingly.
2. CLANKERClanker accounts are created by Proxy Studio and allow you to tag them with your desired token code, name and features through any Farcaster client image (optional), Clanker AI will then launch the liquidity pool on your Base for you with Uniswap V3 liquidity.
As a result, Clanker has become very popular on Farcaster in recent weeks. It has been the driving force behind some of the largest “fareconomic” token launches so far, and interest in it shows no signs of slowing down so far. People love how easy this bot is to use.
That said, CLANKER is Clanker’s native token, launched by Clanker, so it has been like the broader Clanker token ecosystem that has been booming on Base and Farcaster lately Trade as an agent.
If your argument is that this token launcher is only going to get bigger in the near future, CLANKER is one of the prime ways to join this journey.
3. LUMI have mentioned HIGHER and CLANKER above. The mix of these two popular projects gave rise to Luminous (LUM for short), which is why early investors found the token compelling.
Long story short, advanced artificial intelligence agent Aether was recently prompted to prompt the Clanker token bot to create a brand new token. The result is $LUM.
Well, it is not the official token of the advanced community. In short, LUM now serves as a trading proxy for the excitement surrounding Aether, which is now one of the largest Clanker tokens, currently second only to CLANKER in market capitalization.
Looking forward, I believe the main risk for LUM is market saturation. More artificial intelligence agents will enter the encryption field, and their next experiments will be newer and more exciting.
4. ANONANON's story has a lot of moving parts, so let me break it down as simply as possible:
Supercast is a superior version of Farcaster The client has a Super Anon account through which users can post anonymously; someone uses this account to anonymously prompt the Clanker robot to create ANON tokens.
Then there is community building. Kartik deploys anoncast.org, a zero-knowledge proofProvides support for a new independent privacy-preserving Farcaster client. If you hold 5,000 ANON, you can use this platform to post anonymously to Farcaster.
While this use case may seem simple, there's no denying its simplicity, and it's the first consumer encryption we've seen here powered by ZooKeeper One of the applications. Even Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was interested; he bought a small ANON package, asked questions, and even made design suggestions.
More and more people are now rushing to use the app, but what is its long-term potential?
That remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that Anoncast and ANON are currently capturing imagination and attention within the Farcaster ecosystem. The bullish scenario is that Anoncast continues to iterate new features around ANON, making it an increasingly popular utility token on top of Base, which is certainly possible.
5. ghffb47yii2rteeyy10opA dog wearing a tie asking Clanker for meme coins is the idea behind this meme coin. This is Dadaism. Remember above I said that Meme coins are mainly powered by Meme DNA? Therefore, ghffb47yii2rteeyy10op is pure memory. There's nothing here but silly and charming narrative, and that's enough to get some attention these days.
However, have no illusions: the coin is only a few days old at this point, and it will likely be cast aside and forgotten about in no time. This is by far the riskiest of the 5 coins mentioned in this article. But sometimes the crazy and incomprehensible stuff survives and thrives in current market conditions, so if you're looking for a degen game on Base, this is one of the latest rivals to consider right now.
