Golden Finance reported that Lee Hardman, a foreign exchange analyst at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, said that the U.S. dollar should strengthen in the first half of 2025, boosted by the possibility of U.S. President-elect Trump quickly implementing tariffs and the limited prospects of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates. More advance tariff increases support the bank's forecast for further dollar strength in the first half of this year. Additionally, the Fed sent a clear signal in December that they would be much more cautious in cutting rates further this year. In contrast, other major central banks are expected to continue cutting interest rates, a divergence that could prompt further dollar strength in the short term.
