Golden Finance reported that Spanish banking giant BBVA is deepening its presence in the crypto ecosystem, according to CoinDesk. As of December 2023, BBVA held an almost 86% stake in crypto custody platform Garanti BBVA Kripto, which will soon offer cryptocurrency trading services to the public. Bit2Me, a Spanish crypto exchange founded in 2014, will serve as the trade execution center. With the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) taking full effect across the EU, BBVA’s partnership with the crypto exchange is seen by Bit2Me’s chief sales officer Abel Peña as a strong sign that more new developments are to come. Peña said in an interview: I believe that by 2025, we will see many banks in Europe offering crypto spot trading services to their users. We are in very close contact with over 50 financial institutions, located across Europe and in international markets, who will start rolling out their services in the first quarter of 2025.
