Golden Finance reported that a Toyota Motor Corporation (TM.N) spokesman said on Tuesday that the company would donate US$1 million to U.S. President-elect Trump’s inauguration on January 20. A day earlier, Detroit-based Ford Motor Co (F.N) and General Motors Co (GM.N) also said they would donate the same amount. Ford and General Motors will also provide vehicles for the inauguration, but Japan-based Toyota said they do not plan to do so. Trump's proposed tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada would affect many North American automakers, including Toyota, which builds the Tacoma pickup truck in Mexico. Trump also plans to repeal many of President Joe Biden’s preferential policies on electric vehicles and emissions. Other major companies, including Amazon (AMZN.O) and Meta Platforms (META.O), also donated to the inauguration.
