Trump said last week that he would suspend reciprocal tariffs on many trading partners, including the EU. "I'm surprised Trump changed his stance so quickly," Lombard said, noting that the direct impact of tariffs will be to lower U.S. economic growth and drive up U.S. inflation. But Lombard said it was too early to declare a victory given some tariffs still exist. “For this reason, Europe has to keep the pressure on it,” he said.
