On April 13, Katelyn Perna, Chief Information Security Officer of Robinhood Encryption, said the goal of the crypto industry should be to design tools that make encryption easy to access, secure and simple without sacrificing self-hosting or decentralization.
As the crypto industry matures, most of the focus remains on regulation, hosting and scalability. But in 2025, the biggest obstacle to adoption is not policy, but user experience. Crypto's interface is still too complicated for everyday users. From managing mnemonics to deciphering blockchain transactions, onboarding feels more like walking through a maze than joining the financial revolution. The wallet is still dispersed, unintuitive and risky. To achieve mainstream adoption, the industry must prioritize availability—making wallets and financial instruments more accessible—without undermining the core principles of decentralization. Until then, poor user experience will continue to hinder the development of cryptocurrencies.
