Golden Finance reported that London police have established a partnership with legal company Gowling WLG to launch a civil asset recovery plan. The program mainly targets cases where criminal prosecution cannot be conducted, providing victims such as cryptocurrency fraud with the opportunity to recover assets. Previously, British police successfully recovered £520,000 (about $671,000) worth of stolen cryptocurrency for an 80-year-old in a pilot project. The recovery action is thanks to the update of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 Act, giving police the power to freeze stolen digital assets. Gowling director Bríd Holden said he hopes to increase the willingness of victims to report the case through this cooperation. The cooperation program will coordinate recovery efforts between the police and victims and their legal representatives to combat organized crime groups.
