On April 2, according to Decrypt, Ted Cruz, a Republican Senator of Texas, formally proposed the "Facilitate Lower Atmospheric Released Emissions" (FLARE) bill on March 31, aiming to convert waste natural gas that was originally burned or emitted into Bitcoin mining power.
The bill will provide companies with full tax deductions for capturing waste gas equipment, while restricting countries such as China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from participating in related activities. Cruz said that this move will not only improve energy market efficiency and increase grid resilience, but will also help Texas become the "first place for Bitcoin mining."
Energy experts believe that Bitcoin miners can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in this way while converting waste energy into valuable digital assets, achieving a win-win situation between economy and environmental protection.
