According to Golden Finance, the US Business Standard reported on the 14th that the American artificial intelligence company OpenAI submitted a 15-page letter to the US government on the 13th, saying that DeepSeek's latest model R1 is a progress worth paying attention to. OpenAI also attacked DeepSeek in the letter, saying it would pose "significant risks" and asked the U.S. government to take action. According to the report, Chris Lehan, deputy director of global affairs at OpenAI, admitted in the letter: "Although the United States currently maintains its leading position in artificial intelligence, DeepSeek shows that our lead is not big and is shrinking." Meanwhile, Lehan claims that using DeepSeek in critical infrastructure and other high-risk applications would "pose significant risks" because it may be "manipulated by the Chinese government." He also claimed that DeepSeek "infringes on intellectual property rights" and that its users "could face privacy and security risks."
