According to news on November 25, JPMorgan Chase recently released a report evaluating the U.S. Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE). The department was created by President-elect Trump and led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy with the goal of streamlining federal operations and cutting wasteful spending.
"On government efficiency, Trump is expected to pursue an agenda that promotes cutting red tape. This includes the creation of a new Department of Government Efficiency," the report states, adding: "We believe the department will have a hard time doing this ." JPMorgan explained why DOGE may hit a snag: "Ultimately, Congress controls government spending, and DOGE sits outside of Congress and can make all the recommendations it wants, but ultimately it's the typical 60 votes in Congress. Majority dictates legislative changes.”
