Golden Finance reported that FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett disclosed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), led by acting chairman Mark Uyeda, is considering abandoning part of the 2022 Gemsler Times proposal, which was originally intended to extend the definition of alternative trading systems (ATS) to include certain cryptocurrency companies. Speaking at the International Bankers Association’s annual Washington Conference today, Uyeda said: “…In view of the strong negative public comments about the inclusion of cryptocurrencies in the definition of trading platforms, I have asked SEC employees to provide the option to abandon this part of the proposal.” He also asked employees to re-engage with the U.S. Treasury, the Federal Reserve system, and market participants to discuss the areas in which the committee should promote regulatory changes in alternative trading systems.
