According to CoinDesk, private bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets Limited (GDA) is expanding its bitcoin mining business in western Texas, adding 50 megawatts of electricity to two mines in Pyote and Vernon. The expansion includes two new 20 MW buildings at the Pyote mine, bringing the total capacity of the mine to 195 MW and a 10 MW container facility at the Vernon mine, bringing the total capacity of the mine to 70 MW . According to the GDA website, the Pyote mine can be expanded to 370 MW. GDA currently has over 600 megawatts of total power capacity worldwide, operating 20 data centers in Texas, South Carolina, Sweden and Argentina. Abdumalik Mirakhmedov, the company's executive president, said GDA is "one of the world's largest Bitcoin mining companies." The company will participate in Texas' demand response program, shutting down miners and getting compensation during peak power demand.
