Golden Finance reported that the U.S. Department of Justice seized approximately 32.68 Bitcoins from the fraudsters’ cryptocurrency wallets, worth approximately $900,000 at the time, during an investigation related to business email fraud. The U.S. Attorney’s Office subsequently filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit against the seized Bitcoin, which has more than tripled in value since the seizure. As the price of Bitcoin continues to rise, it is possible that all ten victims who have filed claims will receive compensation.
