Golden Finance reported that attorneys generals in 14 U.S. states filed a lawsuit, questioning that Musk and his "widespread power" of the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) violated the U.S. Constitution. Relevant litigation documents show that the state attorney general believes that the president cannot grant such enormous power to an unelected, unconfirmed by the Senate. Under the U.S. Constitution, generally speaking, any official considered a major U.S. government needs to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The White House described Musk as the head of the "Ministry of Government Efficiency" and as a "special government employee." The state attorney general said the court should prohibit Musk from issuing orders to any executive branch staff outside the Ministry of Government Efficiency and declare that his actions are not legally effective.
